Mycestro Wearable Mouse

It's been a long time since I wrote about strange computer mice on here. You wear this mouse on your index finger and you move the arrow by holding the side of it with your thumb.  According to the manufacturer's website the inventor (Nick Mastandrea) saw somebody struggling to use a normal computer mouse on an airplane and he came up with this idea. You can buy one here:

Nymi Band

In the past I've shown on here a usb device that requires you to say your password out loud or one that deletes everything if you type it in wrong. I have now found a wristband that lets you log onto your computer with your ECG (electrocardiogram). According to the site they decided to this instead of a fingerprint scanner because (as the tv show Mythbusters once proved) fingerprints can be easily copied with a piece of tape and than people can hack into your computer but your heartbeat can not be copied or replicated in some way. This isn't available yet but you can reserve one here:

Coffee Table Touchscreen Computer

Have you ever been sitting on the couch and wish you were on your computer but you don't feel like getting up to go get your laptop, smartphone, or tablet than you might want this. This coffee table has a 32" touch screen, has wifi, and also has a 500 GB hard drive. Unfortunately the website says it's no longer available but here is the link to buy it anyway.

N°41 Workout Computer

One thing most people don't know about me is I can type 80 words per minute. I don't think I would be able to do that with this keyboard. Instead of a normal keyboard the letters are on separate punching bags which you have to punch to type. This was just presented at the Istanbul Design Biennial. I can't find anywhere to buy this yet so if you think it's a good idea and want this than you'll have to find it yourself.

More Than Just A Banana Piano

This device lets you connect bananas or pretty much anything to a computer to use instead of a keyboard to play games or to play like a piano. Just like the vest I posted on here about yesterday this was also made by MIT. You can buy one here:

Edible Email Notifier

This device was made for something called Maker Faire. It rewards you with m&ms every time you open an email. Finally you can look forward to being scammed by a Nigerian Prince or some ghost girl trying to kill you because you didn't send an email to 50 people because at least you will be rewarded for it. You can read more about it here:

Laser Projection Bluetooth Virtual Keyboard

Last year a viral video went around the internet showing an iphone projecting a keyboard. It turned out to be a fake. What I found is real though (even though I found it on thinkgeek). This device that looks like those flipcams they were selling a few years ago will project a keyboard onto any flat surface and it is compatible with ios 4 or later, android 4.0 or later, windows xp or later, and blackberry 10. You can buy one here:

Camera Mouse

I've never come across an occasion for this but lets say you are using a computer all of a sudden you decide you need to take your 1000th selfie pic of the day (because you're tired of taking pictures of your feet) but your camera's battery is dead or the card is full. Now you can flip that mouse upside down and take a picture with the camera that has been built into the bottom of that mouse. Or if you need to scan a QR code the mouse also works as a scanner for QR codes. You can buy one here:

Voicelok

2 years ago I posted about Tamatebako ( a flash drive that deletes everything if the wrong password is typed) and now I've found a usb drive that lets you use it by saying the password out loud. Hopefully you aren't in a public place if you ever have to use this. You can buy one here:

The Tongue Drive System

The Tongue Drive system was made at Georgia Tech. It allows people who are unable to use their hands to use a computer or a wheelchair. The user has to get their tongue pierced than it will be able to track what your tongue does through magnetic sensors in a retainer so it can replace the computer mouse or a joystick on a wheelchair. It used to have head mounted magnetic sensors but the headgear was uncomfortable and had to be recalibrated whenever it slipped.

IPAD

A few months ago I showed the Cisco Iphone and now I found another product with the same name as one of apple's products. It's called the I.P.A.D. (Internet Personal Access Device). It was made by a Chinese company called Proview. Just like Apple's ipad it can go on the internet and download different apps. But unlike Apple's ipad it can play dvds and it's not portable. Proview produced 20,000 of these between 1998 and 2009. Proview is now bankrupt and is trying to get $2 billion from Apple over the rights of the ipad trademark.

Google HUD

For a few months now I've been having trouble finding stuff for this site. Most of the stuff I thought would be good to put up I found out was fake or didn't even exist yet. Today I finally found something that was good enough for this site. This is a prototype Google is working on called Google HUD. It's just a prototype, so I don't know if these will look different when it's finished or if it'll ever be released to the public. HUD stands for Heads Up Display. There are some buttons on the arms for different things. It might have it's own version of Android as an OS on the glasses. It won't be able to work with the Android phones. It'll be able to connect to the internet through bluetooth, wifi, or a phone's internet connection according to the site. It will have a camera for different apps or to take pictures. It has a microphone for voice input and output. To scroll and click on different websites and other lists it is said you will have to tilt your head. And it will only be able to display the screen in one eye.

Update: Google now says they will start selling these by the end of 2012.

Later this month Acer is releasing two new laptops called the Aspire Ethos 8951G and the Aspire Ethos 5951G. Unlike any other laptop you will be able to remove the touch pad from these and use it as a media remote.

evoMouse

I have shown a few different computer mice on here and now I've found one that you don't even have to move. This device that looks like a dog watches your hand and moves the arrow according to your hand gestures. You can buy one here:

Libretto W100

The Libretto W100 is a netbook with two touchscreens. One for the monitor and one for the keyboard. It was released in August. It runs Windows 7 and costs 1065$. It was only sold for a limited time so I don't know if there's anywhere you can still buy this.

New 3D electronics for 2011

One thing I really like is 3D movies and games and now a lot of new things have been announced to come out this year that will be in 3D but won't need 3D glasses. A lot of people already know about this but, in a few months Nintendo is releasing the 3DS which will let you play games in 3D without needing 3D glasses. It will have a depth slider on it also so you can change it from 2D to 3D if it hurts your eyes too much. Toshiba has a tv coming out that will use sheets of different angles over one another to give you the 3D effect and Toshiba is also releasing a 3D laptop computer this year.

K750 Wireless Solar Powered Keyboard

Logitech has just released a solar powered keyboard. It's called the K750 Wireless Solar Powered Keyboard. It's able to last three months on a single charge and you can download an app to measure light levels so you know when it needs to be charged. You can buy one here:

Iphone

I know what you're thinking, the iphone isn't forgotten or unseen right? Apple's iphone isn't but InfoGear's is. Back in 1998 Infogear released an iphone that was a phone/computer. It came with a keyboard that could slide out of the base and it also had a touchscreen. All you could use the screen for was internet (which wasn't very good in 1998) and it had an email application also. Later on InfoGear was bought by Cisco and they never made a new version of the iphone. When Apple made their iphone in 2007 Cisco filed a lawsuit against them. It was later settled so they could both use the name in exchange for exploring interoperabilty between Apple's products and Cisco's services.

Apple Pipp!n

A friend of mine just showed me this console called the Apple Bandai Pippin. It was made in 1995 and yet noone remembers it. They tried to make it into a console that plays cd roms along with a networking computer. Most of the stuff also worked on the mac computers themselves so you didn't really need the console to play the games.

Air Piano

For 13 years I've been taking piano lessons and this is the weirdest piano I've seen. The Air Piano is a piano without keys but it still does the sounds of them when you put your hands over certain spots on it. Unfortunately it's not for sale anywhere yet so I can't try it out. Also the instrument won't work unless it's plugged into a computer.
